You may recognize the Griffin Family from our #summerofsailfish photos on social media. This Sailfish family is from Charleston, S.C., and they own a 218 center console. Their 218 handles everything from cruising Shem Creek with their friends to taking their children out to Sullivan’s Island so they can fish around the nearby reefs. But one of their favorite boating activities is trolling along the coastline for that perfect catch!

“We use her for fishing, cruising, and family fun on the water – even overnight trips to nearby cities and ports,” Cameron Griffin said.

The Griffins took their Sailfish out for their first overnight trip earlier this summer to Beaufort, S.C. on the Intercoastal Wateray. They really enjoy the true versatility their Sailfish boat offers them. Cameron says, “It’s the perfect boat for laid back family cruising and offshore fishing.”

“We have made a lot of memories with our family aboard our Sailfish 218CC. One that stands out most, would be when we took my sister and her family out fishing one afternoon. We caught over 60 fish in just 2 hours!” he said.

Shem Creek flows right through Mount Pleasant and most weekends you can find the Griffin family cruising up and down the ICW near Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms. “We enjoy taking the kids up to Price Inlet and letting them swim and explore all the different parts of the islands,” Cameron said.

Their 218 CC is the ideal boat for their everyday use and weekend activities spent out in the waterways of Charleston. Sailfish Boats are built with deep gunwales, which makes for a safer ride for families, especially with younger children.

“We love the deep V hull that Sailfish is known for, especially when we are out handling rough water when fishing offshore,” Cameron said.
The Sailfish Variable Degree Stepped (VDS) Hull features three distinct running surfaces. The first has a deep deadrise that cuts through the water, and two others that provide lift and stability. The wide bow flare also aids in keeping water from blowing back into the boat. Whether you’re idling or cutting through the surf, our VDS hull is the optimal design for a comfortable, safe ride.

“We love the layout and comfortable seating for family cruising and we also love all the rod holders, live well and tackle storage for fishing trips,” said Cameron.
